KHOTANG: The District Police Office in Khotang has destroyed 1.31 quintals of marijuana that was seized about a month ago.
Police had confiscated the marijuana from the Mid-Hill Highway at Waling in Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality-7 on August 6. The contraband was found inside a truck that had been left unattended in a forest area near the highway.
According to Police Inspector Nirajan Basnet, information officer at the District Police Office, the marijuana had been concealed inside a false compartment constructed in the truck’s cabin. The truck driver has been absconding since the seizure.
District Police Chief Prakash Budhathoki said police arrested the truck owner on September 15.
