KATHMANDU: A total of 191 vehicles affiliated with the Nepal National Federation of Transport Entrepreneurs were damaged in the flood in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa on August 26.
According to Federation General Secretary Deknath Gautam, vehicles belonging to nine transport companies from across the country were damaged in the flood, while 344 people, including drivers, co-drivers and passengers, have been reported missing.
According to the Federation, 19 buses, one mini-truck, two jeeps and four containers belonging to Nepal Araniko Transport Service Pvt. Ltd. were damaged, leaving 50 people missing.
Similarly, 19 buses belonging to Namaste Pasang Lhamu Transport Pvt. Ltd., Balaju, were damaged, with 21 people reported missing. Two containers belonging to Bhaktapur New Vision Transport Pvt. Ltd. were also damaged, leaving two drivers missing.
Four trucks, 16 containers and one Sumo belonging to Himalayan Transport Company were damaged, leaving 10 drivers missing. Under the Nepal Tipper and Truck Entrepreneurs Committee, seven tippers, 22 containers, 23 trucks and one trailer were damaged, leaving 45 drivers missing.
Meanwhile, 59 trucks and containers belonging to Narayani Transport Entrepreneurs Company Pvt. Ltd. were damaged, with 70 people reported missing. Nine microbuses belonging to Nepal Micro Company were also damaged.
Similarly, one driver and 22 passengers went missing after a bus belonging to Prithvi Highway Operating Company was damaged in the flood. One driver and 25 pilgrims were also reported missing after a bus belonging to Dhading Mandali Transport Pvt. Ltd. was damaged, Gautam said.
