Team Gorkhali to represent Nepal at Formula Bharat 2027

KATHMANDU: Team Gorkhali from the Institute of Engineering (IOE), Pulchowk Campus, is expected to represent Nepal at Formula Bharat 2027, becoming the country’s first-ever team to compete in the Internal Combustion (IC) category of the prestigious Formula Student engineering competition.

Formula Bharat, India’s premier Formula Student competition, has been held annually since 2017. The event challenges university students to conceptualize, design, manufacture, and test formula-style racing cars, with teams from universities across South Asia competing with vehicles they have built themselves.

According to Team Gorkhali, it is the only international team to qualify through the official Formula Bharat qualifying quiz. The team is currently ranked 29th among 40 teams in the Internal Combustion engine category.

The participation marks a significant milestone for Nepal’s engineering community, as Team Gorkhali prepares to showcase the country’s first student-built combustion Formula racing car on an international platform.
