Govt supplies 561,494 metric tonnes of chemical fertilizer in FY 2025/26



KATHMANDU: The government supplied 561,493.85 metric tonnes of chemical fertilizer by July 8 of the fiscal year 2025/26, achieving around 94 percent of its annual target of supplying 600,000 metric tonnes.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, the government had allocated Rs 28.82 billion for fertilizer procurement in the last fiscal year.

The ministry said the tender process for procuring 491,300 metric tonnes of chemical fertilizer had been completed by July 8.

Of the total fertilizer supplied through two companies, 327,579.80 metric tonnes was urea, 203,426.30 metric tonnes was diammonium phosphate (DAP), and 30,487.75 metric tonnes was potash.

As of Asar 24, a total of 92,592.35 metric tonnes of chemical fertilizer remained in stock at warehouses across the country. The inventory included 49,104.30 metric tonnes of urea, 24,012.85 metric tonnes of DAP, and 19,475.20 metric tonnes of potash.

Including the stock carried over from the previous fiscal year, the ministry said 518,278.55 metric tonnes of chemical fertilizer had been sold by July 8.

The sales comprised 307,016.60 metric tonnes of urea, 192,931.15 metric tonnes of DAP, and 18,330.80 metric tonnes of potash.

The ministry also said 288.75 metric tonnes of chemical fertilizer was in transit through external supply routes, including 86.05 metric tonnes of urea and 202.70 metric tonnes of DAP.
