KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office has taken action against 2,535 drivers in a single day for violating traffic regulations, generating Rs 1.977 million in revenue for the state treasury.
According to the traffic police office, 101 drivers were penalized for driving under the influence of alcohol, while 129 were fined for operating ride-sharing services in violation of existing regulations.
Traffic police also took action against 106 motorists for jumping traffic signals and 138 drivers for speeding.
Similarly, 81 drivers were penalized for failing to maintain lane discipline, 141 for using horns in prohibited zones, 117 for parking vehicles on footpaths, and 113 for driving on one-way roads.
In addition, 1,609 motorists were booked for various other traffic rule violations, the office said.
The Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office said traffic monitoring and enforcement campaigns will continue to promote road safety and improve compliance with traffic regulations across the Valley.
