KATHMANDU: Weather conditions across Nepal are currently being influenced by a westerly low-pressure trough, local winds and easterly winds in the upper atmosphere.
According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s Weather Forecasting Division, the mountainous and hilly regions of the country are expected to remain generally cloudy this afternoon. The Terai areas of Madhesh, Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces will witness partly cloudy conditions, while the Terai regions of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces are likely to remain mostly clear.
The Division has forecast light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning at a few places in the mountainous and hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces. Isolated locations in the mountainous and hilly regions of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces may also receive rainfall.
There is also a possibility of moderate to heavy rainfall with thunderstorms at a few places in the Terai of Koshi Province and at one or two locations in Madhesh Province.
Hot daytime conditions are likely to persist in some parts of the Terai districts of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces. For tonight, the Division has forecast generally cloudy weather in the mountainous and hilly regions, while most Terai areas are expected to remain mainly clear.
There is a possibility of light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunder and lightning, at a few places in the mountainous and hilly areas of Koshi and Gandaki provinces and at isolated locations in Bagmati Province. One or two places in the Terai region of Koshi Province may also experience moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, according to the division.
