Chairpersons of 12 parliamentary committees sworn in



KATHMANDU: The newly elected chairpersons of 12 committees under the House of Representatives took the oath of office and secrecy on Friday.

The oath was administered by Speaker Dol Prasad (DP) Aryal at a ceremony held at the Federal Parliament Secretariat in Singha Durbar.

The event was attended by Deputy Speaker Rubi Kumari Thakur, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Sobita Gautam, Vice Chair of the National Assembly Leela Kumari Bhandari, and leaders of various political parties.

Among those elected, Dr. Krishnahari Budhathoki was named chair of the Finance Committee, Sumnima Udas of the International Relations and Tourism Committee, and Rahawar Ansari of the Industry, Commerce, Labour and Consumer Welfare Committee.

Similarly, Samiksha Baskota will lead the Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee, Hari Dhakal the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee, and Bharat Bahadur Khadka the Public Accounts Committee.

Other chairpersons include Aakriti Awasthi (Women and Social Affairs Committee), Ashish Gajurel (Infrastructure Development Committee), Ashok Chaudhary (Agriculture, Cooperatives and Natural Resources Committee), Ojashwi Sherchan (Education, Health and Information Technology Committee), Bodh Narayan Shrestha (Parliamentary Hearing Committee), and Ganesh Karki (State Directive Principles, Policies and Responsibilities Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Committee).

According to parliamentary officials, most of the chairpersons were elected from the National Independent Party, while Khadka from the Nepali Congress was elected chair of the Public Accounts Committee. The newly elected officials assumed office in their respective committees today itself.
