Light rain with thunder likely in Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki



KATHMANDU: Nepal is currently under the influence of a western low-pressure system, with generally cloudy conditions over the mountainous and hilly regions of Koshi and Bagmati provinces as well as Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Other parts of the country are experiencing partly cloudy weather. According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s Weather Forecasting Division, light rain and snowfall are occurring in a few mountainous and hilly areas of Koshi, Gandaki, Lumbini and Karnali provinces.

The Division said the mountainous regions are expected to remain partly cloudy this afternoon. There is a possibility of light rain and snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning in a few places in the mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, and at one or two locations in other mountainous regions. Light rain with thunder and lightning is also likely at one or two places in the hilly areas of these provinces.

Tonight, the mountainous areas of Gandaki and Karnali provinces are expected to remain generally cloudy. The hilly and Tarai areas of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces will see partly cloudy conditions, while the weather is likely to remain mainly clear elsewhere.

The Division also said there is a chance of light rain and snowfall with thunder and lightning at one or two places in the mountainous areas of Koshi, Gandaki and Karnali provinces during the night.
