Congress urges former members to rejoin the party

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress has called on members who have become inactive for various reasons, as well as those who left the party, to return to the Congress fold.

A meeting of the Central Working Committee held on Saturday under the leadership of party chair Gagan Thapa urged individuals who had distanced themselves from the party to reaffiliate.

The meeting expressed gratitude to the Election Commission for recognizing and updating the decisions of the Nepali Congress’s second special general convention in accordance with the Constitution, prevailing laws, and the party statute.

Emphasizing unity, harmony, and cooperation, the committee appealed to all Congress members at home and abroad to participate actively and with renewed energy in the upcoming elections scheduled for March 5.

The meeting also highly appreciated and thanked former party president Sher Bahadur Deuba and other senior leaders for their long-standing contributions to the party, expressing confidence that they will continue to play a parental and guiding role in the future.

According to party spokesperson Dev Raj Chalise, the meeting further decided that the party will not enter into any unnatural alliances or power-centric agreements going forward.
