US dollar hits record high against Nepali rupee



KATHMANDU: Nepal Rastra Bank has fixed the foreign exchange rates for today (Saturday), with the value of the US dollar reaching a record high.

According to the central bank, the buying rate of one US dollar has been set at Rs 145.09, while the selling rate stands at Rs 145.69.

Among other major currencies, the buying rate of one euro is Rs 168.59 and the selling rate is Rs 169.29. The UK pound sterling is being bought at Rs 194.51 and sold at Rs 195.31, while the Swiss franc has a buying rate of Rs 180.97 and a selling rate of Rs 181.71.

The Australian dollar is priced at Rs 97.32 for buying and Rs 97.72 for selling, while the Canadian dollar stands at Rs 104.49 and Rs 104.92, respectively. The Singapore dollar is being traded at Rs 112.70 (buying) and Rs 113.16 (selling).

Similarly, the buying rate of 10 Japanese yen is Rs 9.18 and the selling rate is Rs 9.21. The Chinese yuan is priced at Rs 20.82 for buying and Rs 20.90 for selling. The Saudi Arabian riyal is being bought at Rs 38.69 and sold at Rs 38.85, while the Qatari riyal stands at Rs 39.83 and Rs 40.00, respectively.

According to the central bank, the Thai baht is being traded at Rs 4.62 (buying) and Rs 4.64 (selling). The UAE dirham stands at Rs 39.50 and Rs 39.67, respectively, while the Malaysian ringgit is priced at Rs 35.76 for buying and Rs 35.91 for selling.

The buying rate of one Hong Kong dollar has been fixed at Rs 18.60 and the selling rate at Rs 18.68. The Kuwaiti dinar is being traded at Rs 474.46 (buying) and Rs 476.42 (selling), while the Bahraini dinar stands at Rs 384.85 and Rs 386.44, respectively. The Omani riyal is priced at Rs 376.87 for buying and Rs 378.43 for selling.

Similarly, the buying rate of 100 Indian rupees has been fixed at Rs 160.00, while the selling rate stands at Rs 160.15.

Nepal Rastra Bank said the exchange rates may be revised at any time as necessary and noted that rates offered by commercial banks may vary. The updated exchange rates are available on the central bank’s website.
