JAJARKOT: One person has died and three others are missing after a landslide triggered by incessant rainfall struck Risang in Bheri Municipality-2, Jajarkot.
According to Police Inspector Sudhir Kumar Khadka of the District Police Office, Jajarkot, 52-year-old Kedar Karki of Risang died in the landslide. The missing persons have been identified as 54-year-old Uma Singh Khatri, 70-year-old Bhim Bahadur Karki and 87-year-old Rati Khatri, all from the same ward.
Nine people were injured in the incident. One of the injured is receiving treatment at Nepalgunj Nursing Hospital, two at Kohalpur Medical College and three at Daurikanda Medical Center. The remaining three have recovered and returned home, police said.
In view of the continuing landslide risk, around 200 residents of the ward have been relocated to the building of Tribhuvan Basic School.
Personnel from the Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and Nepali Army have been deployed to the affected area to carry out search, rescue and relief operations.
