CHITWAN: The Prithvi Highway has been blocked after a large dry landslide carrying trees fell onto the road at Simaldhara in Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality-5, Chitwan.
According to police, the landslide blocked the Narayangadh-Kathmandu road section in both directions. The incident occurred at around 10:25 pm on Saturday, completely disrupting vehicular movement along the highway.
Police said it could take at least six to seven hours to clear the debris and resume traffic. For passenger safety, all vehicles travelling between Narayangadh and Kathmandu have been stopped until further notice.
Police said they are coordinating with the Department of Roads to remove the landslide and reopen the highway. Authorities have urged travellers to make alternative arrangements and avoid unnecessary journeys until road conditions return to normal.
The disruption has left passengers stranded as vehicles remain halted on both sides of the highway.
