KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Food Hygiene has sought clarification from 23 health service employees who have remained absent from duty for more than 60 consecutive days without approved leave.
In a public notice issued on Thursday, the ministry said the employees had been absent without obtaining leave approval, in violation of Section 74(1)(j) of the Nepal Health Service Act, 1997.
The ministry has asked the employees to explain why they should not be removed from service.
It warned that if they fail to provide satisfactory justification, they could face departmental action under Section 72(b)(1) of the Act, which allows for dismissal from service without disqualifying them from future employment in the health service.
The employees under scrutiny are posted at Bir Hospital, the National Tuberculosis Control Centre in Bhaktapur, Shukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital in Teku, Kanti Children’s Hospital in Maharajgunj, and Ayurveda Hospital in Nardevi.
The ministry has directed the concerned employees to submit their written clarification within 15 days from the date of publication of the notice, warning that legal action will proceed if no response is received within the stipulated period.
