Illegal goods worth Rs 435,800 seized in Mustang



MUSTANG: Police in Mustang have seized illegally imported goods worth approximately Rs 435,800 that were being transported to Pokhara without customs clearance.

The goods were confiscated during a routine inspection by the Area Police Office, Lete, in Thasang Rural Municipality-3.

According to Police Inspector Ishwor Mahat of the District Police Office, Mustang, the contraband was discovered while officers were checking a Mahindra Bolero jeep travelling from the Nepal-China Korala border via Jomsom to Pokhara.

Police said the goods were being transported without customs declaration documents or other required paperwork. The vehicle, its driver, and the individual transporting the goods have been taken into custody and handed over to the Mustang Customs Office for further investigation and legal action.

The seized items include shoes, slippers, jeans, towels, T-shirts, and other garments. Police said the identity of the person involved has been withheld to avoid affecting the ongoing investigation.
