RSP lawmaker Srishti Bhattarai says she will follow traffic rules after video controversy

KATHMANDU: Srishti Bhattarai has issued a clarification after a video involving her circulated widely on social media and sparked controversy.

In a statement posted on her social media account, Bhattarai said the video was recorded a long time ago during a personal trip and clarified that she was a passenger, not the driver.

She stated that the footage showed her briefly looking out of a car window and enjoying the journey.

Bhattarai said the video was not recent and had been recorded before she assumed her current public responsibilities or government position.

According to her statement, the incident was unrelated to any official programme or public duty and reflected a personal moment from her private life. She also said that public office holders continue to have a right to personal privacy and requested that the video not be misinterpreted.

Responding to criticism over possible traffic rule violations shown in the video, Bhattarai said she viewed the criticism as an opportunity for awareness.

She pledged to comply with traffic regulations and said she would not repeat such actions in the future, while also encouraging the public to follow traffic rules.
