KATHMANDU: The District Administration Office (DAO), Kathmandu, has issued a seven-day ultimatum to employee unions, professional associations, and organizations operating from government and public institution premises to relocate their offices.
In a public notice issued on Sunday, the administration stated that non-governmental technical, professional, and employee-based organizations registered under the Association Registration Act, 1977, are not permitted to maintain offices within government buildings.
According to the notice, central, provincial, district, liaison, and unit-level offices of such organizations currently operating from government premises must remove their offices, signboards, and other related structures within seven days and relocate to privately owned or rented buildings.
The organizations have also been directed to inform the District Administration Office after completing the relocation process.
Likewise, all government offices and public institutions have been instructed to clear rooms, signboards, and other facilities being used by these organizations and ensure the occupied spaces are vacated.
The notice, issued by Administrative Officer Tirtha Raj Kattel, warns that legal action will be taken against organizations that fail to comply with the directive within the stipulated deadline.
According to the administration, the decision was taken after it was found that several non-governmental employee and professional organizations were operating offices from government and public institution premises, prompting the need for proper management and regulation.
