KMC arranges free residential schooling for 14 children from holding center

KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan City has arranged free education with residential hostel facilities for 14 children currently staying at the Radhaswami Satsang Vyas Ashram Holding Center.

The metropolitan city reached agreements with various schools and guardians to provide free residential education for the children up to Grade 10.

Acting Mayor Sunita Dangol said the students would begin attending regular classes from Sunday following decisions made under four separate proposals related to their educational support.

“It is our collective responsibility to protect children’s natural right to education,” Dangol said. “We are working continuously for that purpose. This is not only an educational activity but also a humanitarian service, and we remain committed to it.”

Chairperson of the district committee of the Private and Boarding Schools’ Organization Nepal, Gagan Singh Air, said private schools had extended support to help fulfill the children’s dreams.

Similarly, Nabaraj Pandey, chairperson of the metropolitan committee of the National Private and Boarding Schools’ Association Nepal, said an agreement had been reached in coordination with the metropolitan city to provide quality education to the children.

A total of 61 children had initially been registered at the holding center. However, according to the Education Department, some children later moved to rented houses with their parents.

Kathmandu Metropolitan has currently signed agreements with 10 schools affiliated with PABSON and three schools affiliated with NPABSON for the program.

Parents have expressed happiness after their children received the opportunity to study free of cost with residential support.
