Nepal to face USA in ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 match

KATHMANDU: Nepal will take on the United States today in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 tournament. The match will be played at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur and is scheduled to begin at 9:30 am.

Two matches have already been completed in the ongoing tri-series involving Nepal, the USA and Scotland. Scotland won both encounters. In the opening match, Scotland defeated Nepal by two runs under the Duckworth-Lewis method, while they edged past the USA by the same margin in the following game.

Nepal currently sits seventh in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 standings. The team must win all of its remaining 11 matches to keep hopes alive for direct qualification to the World Cup Global Qualifier. Finishing within the top six is also essential for Nepal to retain its ODI status, making today’s match particularly important.

Nepal has collected 18 points from 25 matches, winning eight, losing 15 and ending two matches without a result. The USA is in second place with 36 points from 25 matches, having secured 18 wins and seven defeats.

Scotland tops the table with 38 points from 30 matches, including 16 wins, eight losses and six no-results.
