RSP appoints Aakriti Awasthi as chair of Women and Social Affairs Committee

KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has appointed Aakriti Awasthi as the chair of the Women and Social Affairs Committee.

Awasthi, who entered the House of Representatives through the proportional representation system, has been entrusted with the responsibility by the party.

She is the sister of Mukesh Awasthi, who was injured during the Gen-Z movement. A resident of Amargadhi Municipality in Dadeldhura, Awasthi has been actively involved in women’s education, health, and human rights.

Previously, following the 2022 elections, Bimala Subedi of the CPN (Maoist Centre) had been appointed as chair of the same committee.

The RSP has recently accelerated the process of assigning responsibilities to its lawmakers across various parliamentary committees.
