Supreme Court hearing on Rabi Lamichhane cases deferred to Tuesday

KATHMANDU: A petition challenging the Attorney General’s decision to amend and drop cases of money laundering and organized crime against Rastriya Swatantra Party chair Rabi Lamichhane was scheduled for a swift hearing on Monday, but has been postponed.

Attorney General Sabita Bhandari had decided to withdraw two cases filed against Lamichhane. The petition opposing this decision has been under consideration since Sunday.

Senior advocate Dinesh Tripathi, along with Yubaraj Safal and law students, had separately filed petitions against Bhandari’s move to amend and drop the cases.

The Supreme Court bench, headed by Justices Sharanga Subedi and Sunil Pokharel, continued hearing arguments on Monday. The matter has now been deferred to Tuesday for further deliberation
