Teen goes missing while swimming in Mahakali River in Darchula



KATHMANDU: A teenage boy has gone missing while swimming in the Mahakali River in Darchula District on Monday.

According to Police Inspector Devendra Budhathoki of the District Police Office Darchula, 15-year-old Dhiraj Dhami of Byas Rural Municipality-6 went missing while swimming in the river.

Dhami, who had been staying in a rented room at Khalanga, the district headquarters, reportedly disappeared near the bus park area of Mahakali Municipality-5 while swimming with friends.

Police said Dhami drowned while swimming in the river, while his two friends who were with him remained safe.

Dhami was a Grade 9 student at Mahendra Secondary School Khalanga. Police said a search operation is currently underway to locate him.
