Seven inmates who escaped during Gen-Z protests rearrested in Kathmandu



KATHMANDU: Police have rearrested seven inmates who escaped from various prisons in the Kathmandu Valley during the Gen-Z movement on September 9, 2025.

According to the District Police Range, Kathmandu, the fugitives were taken into custody on Sunday during search operations and returned to their respective prison facilities.

Those arrested include Tenzing Bahadur Tamang, 41, from Uttar Gaya-1, Rasuwa, residing at Banchretar Chowk, Gokarneshwar, charged with theft; Pritam Gurung, 20, from Dudhpokhari-4, Lamjung, residing at Kalanki, charged with theft; Babita Tamang, 23, from Punarbas, Kanchanpur, residing at Sundhara, charged with human trafficking and smuggling; Bikram Nepali, 22, from Thantichapkhori, Kavrepalanchok, charged with burglary; Bhuvan Tamang, from Melung-2, Dolakha, charged with narcotics; Anis Magar, from Fikkal-3, Sindhuli, charged with attempted murder; and Roshan Sah, an Indian national, charged with narcotics.

Police officials have stated that search operations for escaped inmates will continue, and strict law enforcement measures are being maintained. Deputy Superintendent of Police Pawan Kumar Bhattarai confirmed that all individuals were sent to their respective prisons after completing the necessary procedures.
