Rs 5.09 billion collected from real estate transactions between mid-Jan and mid-Feb

KATHMANDU: Revenue collection from real estate transactions across the country reached Rs 5.09 billion between mid-January and mid-February 2026.

According to the Department of Land Management and Archives, which compiles nationwide data on property-related revenue, the real estate sector has shown only modest improvement. A total of 50,837 property documents were registered (passed) during the period. Compared to the same period last year, there has been a slight increase in the number of registered documents.

The department reported that Rs 315.58 million was collected in service tax, while Rs 2.68 billion came from registration fees. Additionally, Rs 1.96 billion was generated from capital gains tax during the month.

Despite the increase in revenue, officials noted that overall growth in the real estate market remains gradual rather than substantial.
