KATHMANDU: Monsoon activity is bringing cloudy skies and scattered rainfall across Nepal today, with the monsoon trough lying south of its usual position.
Light to moderate rain is currently occurring in parts of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces. Most hilly and mountainous areas are experiencing overcast conditions, while the Terai is seeing partly to generally cloudy skies.
Cloudy weather is expected to continue across the country this afternoon and tonight. Several hilly and mountainous areas are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, particularly in Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces. Similar conditions are expected in isolated areas of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim.
Localized rain and thunderstorms are also likely in the Terai areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Madhesh, Koshi and Sudurpashchim provinces.
The Meteorological Forecasting Division has warned of heavy rainfall at isolated locations in the hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces today. Heavy rain is also possible in parts of Koshi’s Terai region tonight.
