Transport office collects over Rs 585.3 million in revenue in fiscal year

KATHMANDU: The Transport Management Office in Tulsipur, Dang, collected Rs 585.38 million in revenue in the fiscal year 2025/26.

According to the office’s Information Officer Tara Prasad Sharma, the largest share, Rs 420.34 million, came from vehicle taxes.

The office collected Rs 109.52 million from driving licenses and Rs 36.62 million in income tax, while the remaining revenue came from various sources including route-based taxes and vehicle inspection fees, Sharma said.

The office had collected around Rs 540 million in the previous fiscal year. Revenue collection therefore increased in the last fiscal year compared with the year before.

The office building was completely damaged and documents were destroyed in a fire and vandalism during the Gen Z protests in September last year. Acting office chief Keshav Ghimire said the office repaired two rooms of the damaged building and resumed services, which contributed to the increase in revenue collection.

According to Ghimire, 113,770 vehicles are currently registered at the Tulsipur Transport Management Office, including 88,079 motorcycles and 25,201 four-wheelers, including jeeps, cars and buses.

The office continues to provide services from the same premises.
