KATHMANDU: A total of 71 disaster-related incidents have been reported across Nepal in the past 24 hours, resulting in two deaths and two people going missing, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA).
The authority’s daily bulletin stated that incidents involving floods, landslides, lightning, fires, forest and grassland fires, among others, left 13 people injured. A total of 365 people affected by the disasters were rescued and relocated to safer areas.
Landslides accounted for the highest number of incidents, with 30 cases reported during the review period. One person died and two others went missing in landslide incidents.
Similarly, 11 flood-related incidents were recorded, resulting in one death and two injuries.
The authority also reported 11 snakebite cases, eight forest and grassland fire incidents, five fire incidents, four animal attack cases, and two windstorm incidents during the same period.
The estimated financial loss from the disasters stands at around Rs 1.635 million, according to the authority. However, no incidents of road obstruction were reported during the period.
The NDRRMA has urged the public to remain highly alert as flood and landslide incidents continue to increase amid ongoing rainfall across the country.
