Five members appointed to Nepal Tourism Board

KATHMANDU: Five members have been appointed to the Nepal Tourism Board through an open competitive selection process.

Those appointed are Khum Bahadur Subedi, Santosh Pokharel, Shrijana KC, Pemba Sherpa, and Dr. Shobhita Shrestha Dhakal.

The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation said the appointments were made based on recommendations from a selection committee. The committee, formed under the Tourism Act, evaluated candidates on the basis of their expertise, qualifications, contributions to the tourism sector, and leadership abilities.

A total of 1,100 applicants from across the country had applied for the positions.

The ministry said the open competition process was introduced to ensure transparency in appointments, support the promotion of tourism destinations, contribute to tourism policy formulation, attract investment, and strengthen public-private partnerships.

The newly appointed board members are expected to use their experience and leadership skills to support the sustainable development of Nepal’s tourism sector.
