13 arrested from various locations with drugs



KATHMANDU: Police have arrested 13 individuals from different parts of the country on charges of possessing and trafficking illegal drugs during routine patrols and special operations.

Among those arrested is 22-year-old Sudip Kalekote of Nuwakot, who was apprehended with 640 milligrams of brown heroin from Balaju Chowk in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-16.

In another case, 31-year-old Indian national Ajay Singh was arrested with 3 kg 320 grams of marijuana from the arrival tunnel gate of Tribhuvan International Airport. He had arrived from Hong Kong on a Cathay Pacific flight and was taken into custody by the airport security office and the Narcotics Control Bureau.

According to the Central Police Newsroom, Manish Shrestha of Damak Municipality-4, Jhapa, was arrested with brown heroin and Rs 13,000 in cash. Similarly, Raju Sunuwar (30), also known as Pape, and Bidit Bishwakarma of Dharan Sub-metropolitan City-15 were arrested from a tea shop in Damak with 108 tablets of Tramadol, a controlled pharmaceutical drug.

In separate operations, police arrested additional suspects from Dharan Sub-metropolitan City, Itahari, Nawalparasi West, and Lalitpur Metropolitan City-5. The arrests were made from different locations including Bhanuchowk, Kunwar Chowk, and Thasikhel, with brown heroin, digital weighing scales, cash, and foreign currency recovered during the operations.

Police said the arrests were made on Monday and Tuesday as part of intensified monitoring against drug trafficking across the country.
