BHOJPUR: Maluwa Pond, located in Chinamkhu of Temkemaiyung Rural Municipality-2, Bhojpur, has recently been gaining recognition as an attractive tourist destination.
The pond lies along the Mundum Trail, which is listed among the government’s 100 must-visit tourist destinations, and has been drawing increasing numbers of visitors due to its natural beauty.
Situated at an altitude of about 2,500 meters above sea level, the pond lies amid expansive grasslands. The surrounding greenery, tranquil environment, and scenic landscape attract tourists who travel along the trail. The pond, which remains filled with water throughout the year, offers a refreshing and picturesque view to visitors.
Maluwa Pond has also become a popular resting point for both domestic and foreign tourists trekking along the Mundum Trail. Visitors often stop at the site to rest, take photographs, and enjoy the natural surroundings.
To enhance its appeal, fish have been released into the pond, further attracting visitors. The meadows surrounding the pond and the beautiful natural setting have made the area even more appealing. Locals say that flowers and other plants that bloom during the spring season add to the area’s charm.
Saroj Basnet, Chairperson of Temkemaiyung Rural Municipality, said the local government has been focusing on the conservation and management of the pond area to promote tourism.
According to him, the significance of the site has increased with the growing number of visitors traveling along the Mundum Trail.
The rural municipality also plans to further develop and manage the Maluwa Pond area alongside the promotion of the trekking route. With its natural beauty, peaceful environment, and connection to the Mundum Trail, Maluwa Pond is gradually emerging as an important tourist destination in the district.
