Light to moderate rain likely in several hilly regions



KATHMANDU: A partial influence of a western low-pressure system is currently affecting the country.

At present, the weather is generally cloudy in the hilly and mountainous regions, while the rest of the country is partly cloudy.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is occurring in some areas of Gandaki Province and in a few places of Koshi and Bagmati provinces.

The Department said the weather will remain generally cloudy in the hilly and Himalayan regions of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces this afternoon, while other areas will see partly cloudy conditions. There is a possibility of moderate rain or snowfall with thunder and lightning in some mountainous areas of the country.

Similarly, light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely in some hilly areas of Koshi, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, and at one or two places in the Terai region of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim.

Tonight, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy in the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces and partly cloudy elsewhere.

The Department has also forecast the possibility of moderate rain or snowfall with thunder and lightning in some mountainous areas, while a few hilly regions of Koshi, Karnali and Sudurpaschim may also witness similar weather conditions. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely at one or two places in the Terai of Koshi, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces.
