Five dead as truck plunges



SUNSARI: Five people died in a road accident happened this afternoon at Sonayahi of Bhokraha Narsingh Rural Municipality-9 in Sunsari district.

The accident occurred as the marble carrying truck (Ko 1 Kha 4541) turned turtle along the Postal Highway.

The deceased have been identified as Dhirendra Gurung, 32, Brahmadev Gurung, 55, Tanka Gurung, 50, Nishu Gurung, 28, and Chandra Gurung, 55, of Barju Rural Municipality-1, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Chandra Bahadur Khadka.

Sundar Gurung, Baija Nath Gurung and Man Bahadur Gurung of Barju Rural Municipality-1 were injured in the mishap.

DSP Khadka said that all five people were killed on the spot after being crushed by the marble.

The injured ones have been rushed to Birat Teaching Hospital in Biratnagar.
