RASUWA: A temporary log bridge and a tuin (cable crossing) have been installed over the Phalakhu and Bhotekoshi rivers along the Rasuwa-Nuwakot road section after floods destroyed the concrete bridges over both rivers, disrupting road connectivity.
Superintendent of Police Tul Bahadur Bhandari of the Armed Police Force said the alternative crossings were established to facilitate the movement of people in the affected areas.
A bamboo-and-wood bridge has been constructed at Betravati for pedestrians, while an iron-wire tuin has been installed at Syafrubensi. Although the tuin is operational, work is still underway to complete the footpaths on both sides, which is expected to be finished within a few days.
Province Assembly member Indra Prasad Gotame said travel from Nuwakot through Gerkhu, Chapatar and Keraghari to Betravati has become easier following the completion of the bridge there.
Social worker Ganesh Shrestha said the construction of the log bridge was supported by the Nepali Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and local residents.
