KATHMANDU: Nepali Communist Party leader Barsaman Pun met Prime Minister Balendra Shah on Friday to discuss the landslide in Rolpa that killed 10 people and the compensation and rehabilitation of affected families.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Shah assured Pun that the government was ready to take necessary measures to address the problems caused by the disaster.
Pun urged the government to rehabilitate families displaced by the landslide and ensure arrangements for food, shelter and other basic necessities.
He also called for adequate government support for the rehabilitation of affected families and reconstruction of areas damaged by the disaster.
Ten people were killed in the landslide, while three others remain missing.
The massive landslide occurred at Kotlabara in Uwa, Thabang Rural Municipality-5, on Wednesday night.
Two people who sustained serious injuries in the incident are receiving treatment in Butwal.
According to police, 10 bodies have been recovered, including people buried by the landslide and those swept away by floodwaters.
Five bodies were recovered from the incident site, while another five were found along the banks of the Lungrikhola in Rolpa and the Madi River in Pyuthan, according to the District Police Office, Rolpa.
