KATHMANDU: Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal has described the tourism sector as the backbone of Nepal’s economy, calling for greater efforts to expand the industry and increase foreign currency earnings.
Addressing the 59th Annual General Meeting of the Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) in Kathmandu on Friday, Aryal stressed the need for active engagement from all stakeholders to advance the tourism sector.
He said the government should take serious steps to address policy and structural challenges facing the tourism industry.
Aryal also urged professional organizations such as NATTA to play a greater role in expanding the tourism sector to its full potential.
He stressed that the national flag carrier Nepal Airlines and the Nepal Tourism Board should make sincere efforts to strengthen the tourism industry, which he described as a key pillar of the country’s economy.
