KATHMANDU: A massive flood in the Modi Khola along the Kaski-Parbat border swept away two metal bridges late Thursday night, leaving three people, including a priest, stranded at the Annapurna Mata Temple.
The two bridges connecting the temple to Kaski and Parbat near Birethanti, along the border of Annapurna Rural Municipality-5 and 6, were washed away by the swollen river.
The flood has also damaged the lower half of the temple.
One priest and two devotees have been stranded inside the temple premises following the incident. A special rescue team from the Armed Police Force Nepal’s No. 24 Kalika Gana, Kaski, has been deployed to evacuate them.
According to the Armed Police Force, a trained rescue team comprising four rope-rescue personnel and three divers reached the site overnight with necessary disaster rescue equipment.
DSP Shailendra Thapa said the rescue team has been making continuous efforts since daylight to safely evacuate the stranded people.
