Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City approves annual budget of Rs 2.76 billion



SUNSARI: Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City has approved an annual budget of Rs 2.76 billion for the current fiscal year.

The 19th municipal assembly, held on Thursday, endorsed the budget, which prioritises road network expansion and physical infrastructure development, drinking water supply, education, healthcare, tourism, agriculture, employment generation, and disaster management.

Acting Mayor Ayindra Bikram Begha presented the budget, allocating Rs 2.47 billion for the municipal executive and Rs 287 million for the city’s 20 ward offices.

Begha said the sub-metropolitan city expects to raise Rs 1.40 billion from internal revenue. It will also receive Rs 862 million in federal grants, Rs 91.6 million in grants from the provincial government, Rs 328.89 million through revenue sharing, and Rs 10 million from the Road Board.

In addition, the city has carried forward a deposit of Rs 70 million from the previous fiscal year, according to Acting Mayor Begha.
