UML also boycotts House session amid escalating opposition protest

KATHMANDU: Opposition protests in the House of Representatives intensified on Thursday after the CPN-UML also boycotted the parliamentary session.

Earlier, three opposition parties had already walked out of the meeting. UML lawmakers followed suit after Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle began responding to questions raised on the government’s policy and programme on behalf of Prime Minister Balendra Shah.

UML MPs exited the House in protest, joining other opposition parties that had already left the session.

Earlier, lawmakers from the Nepali Communist Party, Shram Sanskriti Party, and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) had also boycotted the meeting.

Following the walkouts, Nepali Congress lawmakers remained in the House, standing in protest and continuing to express opposition to the government’s position while the Finance Minister defended the policy and programme from the rostrum.
