KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation has initiated a process to appoint officials to vacant positions at the Electricity Regulatory Commission through open competition.

Following the issuance of an ordinance related to the removal of public office holders, all members of the commission were relieved of their posts.

Energy Minister Biraj Bhakta Shrestha has formed a three-member recommendation committee to select candidates for the commission.

The committee is led by ministry secretary Chiranjibi Chataut and includes joint secretary Sagar Raj Gautam and energy expert Satish Narayan Joshi as members.

The ministry said applications will be invited for the post of chairperson and four members of the commission through a 15-day public notice.

The process is expected to move forward under an open and competitive selection system, the ministry added.
