Shankar Pokharel questions Yogesh’s statement: Maybe only a partial version circulated

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel has refuted claims reportedly made by Deputy General Secretary Yogesh Bhattarai, who said he was not assigned responsibilities by the General Secretary during the elections.

In a recent interview, Bhattarai stated that he requested roles from the General Secretary but did not receive any. Pokharel, however, insisted this was incorrect, emphasizing that he had requested for Bhattarai to be assigned to available spokesperson positions wherever possible.

Writing on Facebook, Pokharel said he was surprised to hear that Bhattarai claimed he was denied responsibilities.

He added, “On social media, it has been discussed that Yogeshji requested responsibilities during the elections but did not get any. However, I see no mention anywhere that I had requested him to be assigned as a spokesperson wherever needed.”

Pokharel also clarified that he had invited Bhattarai to visit Dang if time permitted, but Bhattarai reportedly prioritized going to Taplejung instead. Pokharel said he considered this a normal situation but was surprised that the news circulated under Bhattarai’s name suggested otherwise.

He concluded that perhaps only a partial version of Bhattarai’s statement was shared, and his clarification was aimed at preventing misunderstandings:
“Maybe only an incomplete part of Yogeshji’s statement was circulated. I just clarified to avoid any confusion.”
