Nepali Congress special convention: Preparations underway to announce new working committee by consensus

KATHMANDU: A new working committee is set to be announced by consensus from the ongoing second special convention of the Nepali Congress at Bhrikutimandap.

According to party leader Gururaj Ghimire, final discussions on leadership selection have been concluded, and the new working committee will be made public based on mutual agreement.

Meanwhile, as preparations for the leadership announcement continue, political tension within the party has reached a peak. The faction led by party president Sher Bahadur Deuba has already expelled General Secretaries Gagan Thapa and Bishwa Prakash Sharma, along with leader Farmullah Mansoor, for five years, stripping them of even their general party membership.

While efforts are underway on one side to form a new leadership through the special convention, the disciplinary actions on the other have pushed the party to the brink of division.
