Several areas in Kathmandu to face power cuts today

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has announced scheduled power cuts in various parts of Kathmandu today.

According to a notice issued by the authority, electricity supply will be disrupted in areas served by three feeders under the Maharajgunj Distribution Center.

The NEA said power cuts will affect the Ganeshsthan, Bhangal and Shivapuri feeders. The outages are required to balance feeder load and to charge breakers and underground cables as part of the construction of a new Pasikot feeder.

As per the notice, areas around Bhote Chowk and Ganeshsthan under the Ganeshsthan feeder will face power cuts from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm today. Likewise, electricity supply will be interrupted from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm in areas including Lower Bhangal and the Dhobikhola corridor served by the Bhangal feeder.

Similarly, areas such as Pasikot, Chhyasingdol and other parts of Budhanilkantha Municipality under the Shivapuri feeder will experience a power outage from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.

The Authority has stated that if the work is completed ahead of schedule, power supply will be restored earlier than the time specified in the notice.
