Flights resume at Resunga Airport after nearly four months

GULMI: Air services at Resunga Airport in Gulmi district resumed on Monday after remaining suspended for nearly four months due to adverse weather conditions.

Resunga Airport Station Chief Suman Thapa said flights had been disrupted since the first week of June due to poor weather, dense fog and strong winds.

Following the resumption of services, a Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) aircraft carrying 13 passengers from Kathmandu landed at Resunga Airport on Monday morning. The aircraft then returned to Kathmandu with two passengers on board.

With weather conditions improving, the NAC has introduced a new schedule to operate flights three times a week.

The prolonged disruption had caused difficulties for elderly people, patients and others who needed to travel to Kathmandu for essential work.

The NAC operates flights between Kathmandu and Gulmi using 18-seat Twin Otter aircraft. The corporation has revised its flight schedule with the resumption of services.

Under the revised schedule, flights will depart Kathmandu for Resunga at 7:15 am on Sundays and Tuesdays, with return flights from Resunga to Kathmandu scheduled for 8:15 am.

Similarly, on Fridays, flights will depart Kathmandu for Resunga at 6:20 am and return to Kathmandu at 7:20 am.

The NAC has set the one-way fare at Rs. 10,710 per passenger from Kathmandu to Gulmi and Rs. 10,510 from Gulmi to Kathmandu.
