Two killed after motorcycle crashes into divider in Sunsari



SUNSARI: Two people died after a motorcycle crashed into a road divider on the East-West Highway at Balgram in Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City-7, Sunsari, last night.

According to police, the motorcycle, bearing registration number Province 1-02-043 Pa 5514, was travelling from east to west when the rider lost control and collided with the divider.

Both the rider and the pillion passenger sustained serious injuries in the crash. A police team rescued them and rushed them to BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan for treatment at around 3:23 am.

The motorcycle rider, Paras Thapa, 29, of Inaruwa Municipality-3, died during treatment at around 5:11 am. The passenger, Sagar Regmi, 34, an employee of the District Administration Office, Sunsari, succumbed to his injuries at around 4:52 am, according to the Area Police Office, Itahari. Police are conducting further investigation into the cause of the accident.
