Deuba returns to Nepal after five months

Former NC president arrives alone as rival faction prepares national assembly



KATHMANDU: Former Nepali Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba returned to Nepal on Thursday after nearly five months abroad.

Deuba had travelled abroad for medical treatment along with his wife, Arzu Rana Deuba. He returned to Kathmandu alone on Thursday.

Deuba has returned to address the national gathering being organised by the faction of the Nepali Congress opposed to the current party leadership.

He is scheduled to address the gathering on Friday.

The gathering is expected to discuss the current political situation of the Nepali Congress, the party’s organisational affairs and its political strategy for the coming period.

Deuba’s return and his participation in the gathering are being closely watched amid the ongoing internal dispute within the Nepali Congress.
