Rolpa landslide death toll reaches three as search continues for 10 missing



ROLPA: The death toll from a landslide in Thabang Rural Municipality-5 of Rolpa has reached three after rescuers recovered the body of a 71-year-old woman on Thursday.

The body of local resident Manarakhi Pun Magar was recovered from the landslide site at Kotalbara, according to the District Police Office.

The landslide occurred on Wednesday night, burying houses and leaving 10 people missing.

Police said the missing people have been identified as Jun Kumari Pun Magar, 40; Ashim Pun Magar, 9; Ashok Pun Magar, 6; Dal Bahadur Pun Magar, 75; Ajambar Pun Magar, 80; Bal Bahadur Pun Magar, 78; Lil Bahadur Pun Magar, 72; Mani Pun Magar, 71; and Hastakala Roka Magar, 67, along with another missing person.

A team led by the Chief District Officer and comprising chiefs of the security agencies has reached the incident site.

Security personnel and local residents are continuing the search and rescue operation for those still missing.
