Two killed, two seriously injured in Rolpa landslide



ROLPA: Two people were killed and two others seriously injured after a landslide triggered by incessant rain buried a house and a shed in Botalbara, Thabang Rural Municipality-5, Rolpa.

According to the District Police Office, Rolpa, the deceased have been identified as 18-year-old Shanti Pun Magar and 60-year-old Kamal Bahadur Pun Magar, both residents of Botalbara.

The injured are Himal Pun Magar, 22, and Sanjay Gharti Magar, 25, also from the same locality. Police said the house and shed were buried by a landslide following continuous rainfall that had persisted since the afternoon of August 10.

A police team reached the site last night. With the assistance of local residents, the injured were rescued and taken to a health facility for treatment. Their condition is reported to be critical.

Police said six houses and sheds were damaged by the landslide, and further details of the incident are still awaited.
