POKHARA: More than 320 stray cattle have been rescued and managed by Pokhara Metropolitan City as part of efforts to protect abandoned animals and prevent road accidents.
The municipality has been providing care and shelter for unattended cattle at Pushkarani Paropakar Gokuldham, located in Pokhara-14, Bachchhibuduwa.
According to Municipal Police Inspector Purushottam Thapa, stray cattle are collected and transported to the shelter using the municipality’s animal rescue vehicle.
The Gokuldham currently houses more than 320 animals, including cows, oxen and calves. The shelter has also started generating income by selling milk and compost fertilizer produced from the animals.
Pokhara Metropolitan City has been providing annual financial support to the Gokuldham for the management and protection of stray cattle.
