Weather system triggers rainfall across parts of Nepal today



KATHMANDU: Nepal is currently under the influence of a western low-pressure system and local winds, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.

The Department stated that the weather is generally cloudy in the mountainous and hilly regions of the country, including Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, while the rest of the country is experiencing partly cloudy conditions.

Light rainfall is currently occurring in some areas of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces. According to the Department, the weather this afternoon will remain generally cloudy in the mountainous and hilly regions, including Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, while the rest of the country will see partly cloudy skies.

There is a possibility of moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder, lightning, and snowfall in some areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, as well as in a few places across the remaining mountainous and hilly regions, including Madhes Province. One or two places in the remaining Terai region may also witness rainfall with thunder and lightning.

In addition, there is a possibility of strong winds, hailstorms, thunder, and lightning in some districts of the hilly and Terai areas of Sudurpaschim Province.

Similarly, tonight, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy in the mountainous and hilly regions of the country, including Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, while the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy conditions.

The Department has forecast the possibility of moderate to heavy rainfall and snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning in some places of Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, as well as at one or two places in the mountainous and hilly regions of the remaining provinces.
