Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal clarifies Prime Minister Balendra Shah’s India visit yet to be finalized



KATHMANDU: Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal has stated that the official date for Prime Minister Balendra Shah’s upcoming visit to India has not yet been determined.

Minister Khanal shared this information during a press conference at Tribhuvan International Airport upon his return from attending the Indian Ocean Conference.

Addressing media queries, Minister Khanal explained that the visit will take place only after the new government has finalized its key priorities.

He further noted that Prime Minister Shah will travel to India once the technical mechanisms of the respective foreign ministries of both nations complete their necessary groundwork.

The Foreign Minister confirmed that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had extended an invitation for a visit in his congratulatory message immediately following Shah’s appointment as Prime Minister.

Minister Khanal also informed that he discussed the matter of high-level political visits with his Indian counterpart, S. Jaishankar, during a recent meeting in Mauritius.
