Fog likely in Terai, light rain and snow possible in high hills

KATHMANDU: Westerly winds are affecting the country’s weather, bringing partial cloud cover to the high hilly and mountainous areas, while most other regions are seeing mainly clear skies, the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology said.

This afternoon, fog is likely to persist in some parts of the Terai until noon. Cloudy conditions are expected in Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, with partly cloudy skies in other regions.

Tonight, fog may develop in some Terai areas. The high hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi and Gandaki provinces will see cloudy conditions, while the rest of the country will remain partly cloudy. There is a chance of light rain and snowfall at one or two locations in the high hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi and Gandaki provinces.

The division has urged the public and concerned authorities to remain cautious of air pollution, as fog is expected in some Terai areas until noon and there is no immediate likelihood of rainfall.
